What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing is providing hardware, software and data on-demand via the Internet, much as electricity from the power grid. The cloud represents the Internet and the parts and actions of the application that are not done on the user's machine. This way, the user does not need to own the used hardware and software and is also not responsible for the maintenance. The details of the information technology infrastructure are hidden from view and the user can access an "individual" virtual infrastructure, that is scalable in size and features.

• No major hardware and/or software costs / savings in management

Given the services of an external provider involved, they are responsible for the management of the hardware and software. Of course, the customer must have a device (thin client) at his own site in order to be able to work, but the servers and the software/applications are responsibility of the provider in terms of procurement and management.

Literally pay as you go. In some cases, even a minute. Thus there is no need major to do hardware and/or software investments. The service provides a monthly report of what is being used including the agreed price for this.

Without any downtime, the environment can easily be increased or decreased. Ideal for seasonal environments. If the business expands, the cloud grows alongside.

• Maximum experience

Because the provider controls the infrastructure, they are responsible for the administration. Such providers are certified and trained in this technology. In addition, it is their core business so they are highly specialized in this.
