SQL Server 2017 available since beginning of October 2017
Leipzig, 10/27/2017 – In an earlier blog post, Microsoft had announced that SQL Server 2017 would be generally available on 2nd October 2017. The blog post announcement is here and gives some detail on the actually quite exciting new features that are part of SQL Server 2017.
Leipzig, 10/27/2017 – At its conference, Ignite in Orlando, Microsoft announced Office 2019—the next perpetual update for Office. This release, scheduled for the second half of 2018, will, according to Microsoft, include perpetual versions of the Office apps (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and servers (including Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for Business). Previews of the new products will start shipping mid-year 2018.

Azure Reserved VM Instances (RIs) in CSP Pre-Announcement by Microsoft
Leipzig, 10/27/2017 – At the Ignite conference, Microsoft made a number of key Azure announcements including Azure Reserved VM Instances (RIs). According to Microsoft, RIs will allow customers to reserve Azure VMs in advance and enjoy significant cost savings. RIs also provide price predictability, prioritized compute capacity, and flexibility to exchange or cancel reservations should customer needs change. With the combination of RIs and Azure Hybrid Benefit, Azure will, according to Microsoft, have unbeatable prices on VMs in the public cloud.
Availability: Azure RIs will be available for Enterprise Agreement and Direct customers worldwide by the end of CY 2017 and in the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program in H1 of CY 2018.
