Intelligent Communications: Microsoft Teams replaces Skype for Business Client

Leipzig, 10/27/2017 – At its conference Ignite, Microsoft made an announcement concerning Intelligent Communications. According to Microsoft, by transforming calling and meetings experiences, Intelligent Communications extend beyond unified communications to enable customers to complete tasks more efficiently with minimal context switching; participate in more productive meetings that span the entire meetings’ lifecycle; and better manage everyday communications overload.

To bring the Intelligent Communications vision to life, comprehensive calling and meetings capabilities will be folded into Microsoft Teams, along with data and insights from the Microsoft Graph and a robust roadmap of innovation to empower teams to achieve more. As these capabilities are developed, Microsoft Teams will evolve as the primary client for Intelligent Communications in Office 365, replacing the current Skype for Business client over time.

According to Microsoft, the foundation of Intelligent Communications is being built on a new, modern Skype infrastructure for enterprise-grade voice and video communications.
