Microsoft announces details and schedule for SharePoint Server 2019

Leipzig, 07/24/2018 – Microsoft released information on SharePoint Server 2019 at a conference at the end of May. Today the availability of both SharePoint Server 2019 Preview and Project Server 2019 Preview was finally announced.

Microsoft says that SharePoint Server 2019 has not just been reconfigured, but also features a new, modern design that works perfectly on all screens, irrespective of whether they are tablets, smartphones, laptops, or desktops. The company has said that SharePoint Server 2019 offers innovations in the SharePoint Online user experience. These include improvements to document libraries and navigation constructions that are consistent with Office 365. As a result, operation should be rapid and reliable, yet also intuitive. According to Microsoft, SharePoint Server 2019 offers immediate access to the most commonly used persons, content, and apps: This is intended to allow customers to spend less time searching for information and spend more time using it.

Microsoft says that these updates have proven themselves successful when implemented in Office 365, and will now be put to good use in SharePoint Server. By using the cloud as the basis, the goal is to provide customers of SharePoint 2019 with the best communication and collaboration experiences, such as by introducing communication websites, Team News, and modern Team websites to include lists and libraries, and support others. Microsoft says that Next Generation Sync Client (NGSC) supports reliable access to all documents, anywhere and anytime.

Key features include:

• Modern Sites, Pages, Lists, and Libraries

• Team News

• SharePoint Home

• Communication Sites

• OneDrive Sync Client

• Improved hybrid support and scenarios

• New developer options

• Improved support for business processes with PowerApps and Flow
