Modern Pricing Changes

Microsoft  01/08/2018

On 1st October 2018, Microsoft will adjust pricing for their licensing programs and make price adjustments to on-premises and cloud products. These changes will highlight the benefits of pricing for a cloud-first world, help move from program-centric to a customer-centric pricing structure, and create more consistency and transparency across their purchasing channels.

Microsoft want to encourage purchasing decisions made on solutions, as opposed to purely price – the change opens the market to solution-based offers where price is a reduced part of the discussion.

Patches were released by Microsoft, Linux, and other platforms on 3rd January 2018. Because exploitation requires the execution of some form of attack code, Sophos products, which do not allow for any form of unauthorised code execution, are not at a high risk of attack.
